Have you heard about Giveaway Day? Hosted by Sew Mama Sew, Giveaway Day is actually a week-long link party for blogs to give away different items. There are two categories, "supplies" and "handmade items". It's a great way to win some cool stuff and find new blogs to enjoy!
Since I'm mired in the dregs of a winter coat muslin, I decided to give away supplies instead of something handmade.
I know, what an underwhelming photo! You're looking at 2 yards of white PUL. What is PUL? If you're not into cloth diapering, you probably have no idea. PUL is a laminated fabric which is waterproof and is used for diaper covers, snack baggies, diaper storage bags, all kinds of stuff!
I didn't make this, CottonBabies did, but it's made from PUL.
It's also terribly hard to photograph in an exciting way :)
I purchased this PUL at Jo-Ann's (Babyville brand) but have never gotten around to using it. I have more PUL and I'm sure I can bear to part with this piece. Want to win it?
Leave a comment below (make sure I have a way to email you if you win!!) and answer this question: If you had to give away some fabric from your stash, what would it be and why?
- This giveaway is open worldwide
- A winner will be chosen randomly using random.org
- Giveaway closes December 13th at 5pm PST and winner will be contacted by email
- Fabric will ship by December 20th
Make sure to head over to Sew Mama Sew to see all the other giveaways!
That would be awesome, I'd love to be able to make cloth diapers, etc.! Thank you for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm trying to use up my stash before a big move next summer, but I have some home decor fabrics that aren't really my style and colors anymore. I really need to figure out what to do with 5 yds of silk that I found at a thrift store. I'm afraid to cut into it!
ReplyDeleteHaha..I would love the PUL and oddly, will actually use it. I know I've said it before, but really will. Thanks for the give away and happy holidays. (and I'm a new follower... glad to have found you)
ReplyDeletetextilerecycler@yahoo.com
I have this awesome pirate fabric that I bought like five yards of and isn't available any more :)
ReplyDeleteAmy
get rid of fabric! here, have my grand daughter instead. I have a lot of purple and I would probably try and find some solids. Everyone needs more solids.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to give away fabric...hmmm...I probably give away some of my vintage fabrics from the 30's. Everyone needs a piece of 'history' in their stash. :)
ReplyDeleteooooooops I forgot to add my email.... sowingstitches [at] gmail [dot] com
ReplyDeleteI would probably make a charm pack, because it's so hard to pick what things to give away.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to work with PUL so this would be a great thing to win.
ReplyDeleteI use it to line reusable snack bags and could always use more! Thanks for being willing to part with it (I know how hard it can be)!
ReplyDeleteI have quite a bit of fabric, but I think I'd end up giving away this lovely green pear print. Pretty, but not my thing.
ReplyDeletePUL is great for snack bags and lunch bags! Thanks for offering such a generous giveaway! If I had to part with any, it would be some ruffle knit that I bought on a whim from PYP. I've only seen it fit to make scarves since I don't have a girl to sew for. I still have 4 yards lying in wait lol!
ReplyDeleteAll my fat quarters! I don't really make bags or quilt tops anymore, I'm way more interested in garment sewing. I will eventually use the fabric up I'm sure with gifts or small appliques on my sons clothing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteoooo I'd love to make some snack bags with this! I have some Joel Dewberry Heirloom that is beautiful but I just don't think I'll ever use it!
ReplyDeleteI have a few things in my fabric stash that I purchased and then decided did not work for the project they were intended for.
ReplyDeleteI gave all my fabric scraps to a friend making a crazy scrap quilt, it felt good to get rid of so much (two garbage bags full!) I edited pretty good when I filled the "scrap" bags.....
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking I should line these make up bags I'm making with PUL...and here you are giving it away! fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteas far as giving away fabric...well, I'm making make up bags with some...does that count? no, I suppose not. Hmmmm, well, I guess I'd tailor it (pun!) to the recipient....flannels are most often requested so far, so more flannel to the first time mama that I know would probably be best.
I would give away a bunch of old sweatshirt material scraps that are as old as I am probably. And I have no reason to keep them but I keep moving them with me from house to house. conn_and_vans_mom(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteSome fabric from the 80s.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...some fabric that was given to me by a family friend
ReplyDeleteI would give away some fabric that was passed along to me and is lovely, but not my style.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I were to be doing a giveaway from my stash, I'd probably pick a few colorful solids.
Appieb77@hotmail.com
I've had pretty good luck ordering online, but ordered one piece that isn't as nice as I thought...too busy! I'd give that way.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....I don't have a very big stash, so it would be hard to give away any of it. If I had to though, I could probably get rid of my basket of stray charm squares. They come in handy sometimes, but I can't ever seem to make a dent in that pile. Also, I had a bundle of fabric I purchased when I first started quilting that I'm not sure why I'm still holding on to it.
ReplyDeleteI would giveaway my Kona charm pack I just got. I would want other people to like my prize. You can't go wrong with pretty new solids. ksmith8@emich.edu
ReplyDeleteI would give away some of the bright prints I've collected. Just can't use them all :).
ReplyDeleteVery timely. My friend is having her baby next week and could use some diaper covers. I have some upholstery fabric samples that I'm not using and wouldn't mind giving away. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat would I give away? Ouch! Not sure.... lol! Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I don't know if I could part with anything! I always think I'll use it all for something someday!
ReplyDeleteI've got some flannel that I probably could stand to part with
ReplyDeleteI am new to sewing and don't have much of a fabric stash hehe. I made my first cloth diaper last week! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteSome fabrics that was passed on to me but really isn't my taste. I tend towards vibrant..these are a bit on the darker side.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win your fabric! If I had to part with some fabric from my stash it would be the yellow minky I have had for yonks and just haven't got round to using!
ReplyDeleteYou've linked up in the "willing to ship internationally category"
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! My mistake, I didn't realize there were two categories. I've amended my post and I WILL ship internationally.
DeleteI've been making the diaper covers for our grandchildren so I would love to have some PUL.
ReplyDeleteI would give away some of my printed fabric that I've had awhile but never used.
ReplyDeleteAh, I could use this! I'm gathering materials to make cloth diapers for my sister's baby on the way! I would probably get rid of some of the heavier weights that I need reach for. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI want to make some snack bags! I would giveaway this light pink fabric I got for a quilt project and ended up using a hot pink color instead.
ReplyDeleteI would give away some block printed fabric from India because it is hard to find that in stores here. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteonehotstove AT gmail DOT com
Honestly, I don't know what I'd give away. That was my problem this giveaway, I couldn't choose. I would rather take a pic of my stash and tell the winner to choose! Good things to choose from. Dear Stella, Art Gallery Fabrics, Joel Dewberry, and Briar Rose to name a few. How do I pick which should be gifted... you pick yourself in my stash!
ReplyDeleteIf I were to give away fabric from my stash, I'd probably give away a small stack of solid fabrics.. everyone can use a little solid fabric in their life!
ReplyDeleteI have never used PUL, but have some plans to do so soon! I just gave away several pieces of fabric. Why? Because they were additional christmas gifts. And I knew that the fabric I picked from my stash would make them happy...plus its something that I would never use!
ReplyDeleteI would give away some fat quarters basically because I have a ton of them and it is a good size to giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably give away a lot of bright primary reds, since I don't tend to use that color, but seem to sure have a lot of it anyway!
ReplyDeleteI have some duplicate panel fabrics that I might be able to part with...maybe...just because...this hurts. Merry Christmas. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
ReplyDeleteI use it to make reusable snack bags! thanks for the chance! bjwagner812(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteCool! I made and sell mama cloth and need PUL like nobody's business hehehe. If I had to give away fabric from my stash I would give away some cuts from my very favourite vintage sheets that I've collected. (Oh wait - I'm doing that right now over at my blog). But anyway, one of the reasons for doing this would be because of the constant complaints from my husband that my "collection" is taking up way too much space. Oy! He'll never learn that it's important stuff taking up that space. :)
ReplyDeleteI have some dragon fabric I though I would make something for my son years ago... he has outgrown that phase now and I'll bet someone else would enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with giving away my muslin - I couldn't stand to part with any fun prints
ReplyDeletealcbrooks@windstream.net
Fabric that I like but never found a use for. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteOh man, my "stash" is hardly a stash. I'm fairly new to quilting, so I'm just beginning my stash. If I gave anything away it would have to be some of the baby fabrics because I've used it for 3 grandkids, and I'm ready for something fresh and new so I'm not repeating myself.
ReplyDeleteI have some older fleece I would probably part with.
ReplyDeleteMy stash is more of a hoard, LOL. I would give away some of the younger child oriented prints. My kids are grown and my niece and nephew have outgrown them. By the time my kids have kids I will want new stuff. (Isn't that how it became a hoard in the first place?hmmm...)
ReplyDeleteI recently gave my 7 year old granddaughter some Strawberry Shortcake fabric so she could make a quilt for her bear for Christmas. Thank you for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI gave away several big bags of fabric this summer. If I still had to give more I'd pick some of the more baby prints that my youngest has grown out of.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love your line "Want to Win It?" I do for the inside of lunch bags, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have a Moda jelly roll that I won a few years ago and it's not really my color style. I could easily give it away.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I love PUL! I have four children and have made A LOT of diapers! If I had to give away some fabric in my stash it would be some vintage 80's/90's jungle fabric someone have me. It really is just taking up space and I need to get rid of it!
ReplyDeletebrooke at richardchurch dot com
I think I could give away any part of my stash that someone wanted. There are a few things that we would have to split!
ReplyDeleteI'd give away a scrap pack - I have WAY too many scraps!
ReplyDeleteI think I would give away some of my Bonnie and Camille fabric since it is my favorite right now, I would be happy knowing someone else was enjoying some of it
ReplyDeleteI have bunches of Christmas fabrics that I should share! Thanks for the giveaway. I have a daughter that is planning on using cloth diapers, so would love this.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I have so many things I could make with this! I have some vintage fabric that is red and green (not Christmas print, but in color). I have been wanting to use it for years, but just can't think of what to do with it. It seems silly to hold on to it, if someone else can make something wonderful with it.
ReplyDeleteI have a newborn so this will be nice! I would give away some of my scraps, because they are awesome and I have way too much!
ReplyDeleteThat depends: WHY do I have to give it away? If it's going to a particular group or person with a particular use, that would determine what I would give away. My stash has a wide variety of TYPES of fabric: knits, denim, silk, quilting cotton.
ReplyDeleteem_komiskey@yahoo.com
Oh I would love to win some PLU! If I were going to give away my fabrics I would say I have a lot of novelty fabrics I would give to someone when I first started buying fabrics I was in love with novelty fabrics..........not so much anymore.
ReplyDeleteI have some fat quarters that I got in a fat quarter club which are nice but not my style at all. I'll give them away in the next giveaway day! (I'm giving away metallic thread this time around!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
skmcgrat@tcd.ie
Oh, I need this! Went to a large fabric store, and they did not have it and had never heard about it! I was shocked!
ReplyDeletejachelno(at)gmail(dot)com
I would give away fake fur, It makes me crazy when I sew with it.
ReplyDeleteI've got a bunch of larger-sized scraps that I'm sure someone else could make better use of than me.
ReplyDeleteI have some heart fabric I keep around for some reason, I don't know why I don't get rid of it. I would give that away.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could choose - I love all my fabric!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to give away fabric from my stash I would give away some of my floral prints. I just have to much of it and I'm sure others would love it. I would love some PLU.
ReplyDeleteramona_murray at comcast dot net
I don't really have anything I'd want to give away!!
ReplyDeleteI frequently have to give some stash to my husband to decorate his office and I just give him really durable fabrics for tables and they tend to be more masculine...kellythompson747@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! This summer I did purge my stash and give a lot away! Prgenancy nesting hormones made me do it.
ReplyDeleteI have some fall and christmas prints that were given to me that I just don't know what to do with, since I lack inspiration I would give them.
ReplyDeleteI have not worked with that yet but think it would be great to make some mats and diaper covers. I would give away some of my fat quarters, i have collected them but i don't have that many ideas or books on how to use them.
ReplyDeleteI'd giveaway my rain boots and umbrella fabric. Cute and I'd be delighted to share it.
ReplyDeletecourtneyahrenholtz at gmail.com
I would give away some large scraps that would make a cute I Spy quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'd give any the rest of my polyester double knit; way outdated!
ReplyDeleteAwesome - I'd love to try it! I have plenty of fabrics I just don't dig anymore. Or the low quality fabrics I bought before I knew where to find the good stuff.
ReplyDeletevery interesting. I am curiuos about this fabric
ReplyDeleteI have some red and gold left over from a requested quilt for my MIL. I've been trying to use it up in other projects, but it never seems to go down! I'd be giving some of that away :)
ReplyDeleteOOh I cloth diaper and my wet bag just broke so I totally could use this! I actually opted not to participate in this giveaway on my own blog because the only thing I wanted to part with was leftover fat quarter scraps and I didn't feel like that was exciting enough for a giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased some PUL (didn't know that's what it's called). so I know I'd use yours. I have tons of fabric but little of the designer brands that everyone wants. So, in answer to your question, I don't really know. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to give away some of my stash, it would probably be a bolt of fabric I bought when I was doing craft shows, but never used.
ReplyDeleteI am expecting a great great nephew in February, and would love to make dome diaper covers for him!!
Thank you for such a great prize!!
haynesrive(at)aol(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI don't have much of a stash but I am sure I could find something I thought I could use and just haven't.
ReplyDeletelissawatson3 at gmail dot com
I don't have a stash! This would make a fun start. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd share some polar fleece along with instructions on how to make a "quilt" with it!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a stash (well maybe just the 2 yards of brown fleece), as i only buy enough fabric for the project i'm working on right now. I have a small house, so not much space for stashes ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not into cloth diapering, but I think it'd be great for a rain coat or a craft-apron for my kid(s). Something I'd part with... I'm a hoarder, so it's a difficult question. It'd probably be something I'm hoarding 'cause it's pretty, but something that'll stay in the stash, 'cause I cannot think of something to make with it...
ReplyDeleteI have a big piece of children's fabric I got at IKEA... and no idea what I will ever do with it!
ReplyDeleteDesi--desi@weeshare.net
My stash isn't very big yet so I wouldn't give any away. If it was huge I would give some flannels away.
ReplyDeleteI'd give away some solids. I always have lots because I use them the most!
ReplyDeleteI have some fabric that I bought awhile ago - some babyish prints that I haven't used and now my kids have grown up to much to use it for them. Thanks for a chance to win! :)
